Food Rescue and Recovery Programs
NIFB is in search of outgoing, friendly people who want to make a difference and are dedicated to making a commitment. Be part of a team that distributes food directly to hungry people in northern Illinois. Some heavy lifting is required. Volunteers must be 18 years old. • Food Rescue Program
  Food Rescue Assistants are needed Monday through Thursday between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:00 pm. Volunteers are needed to ride along with the staff driver and navigate to local grocery stores for a day rescuing food that would otherwise be thrown away. This service obtains safe and nutritious perishable foods from local grocery stores. Food is delivered directly to shelters and soup kitchens the same day.
  
  

• Food Recovery Program
  Food Recovery Assistants are needed Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 7:00 am and 3:00 pm. Help a staff driver pick up a variety of perishable protein items and bring it back to NIFB for inspection, sorting and distribution to NIFBs Agency Network.
