Product Processing & Food Sorting
Volunteers are able to do a variety of projects, including sorting, evaluating,
cleaning, and packaging donated food prior to distribution. Individuals who are
able to lift between 15-30 pounds are preferred; however, heavy lifting is not a
requirement. Sorting shifts are listed below:
-- Tuesday & Thursday: 9am-Noon
-- Tuesday & Thursday: 1pm-4pm
-- 1st & 3rd Wednesday: 6pm-8:30pm
-- 2nd Saturday: 9am-11:30am
-- 4th Saturday: 9am-11am (Youth Shift)
Volunteers must be at
least 14 years of age during regular shifts and 8 years of age during youth
shifts to work in the warehouse. The week leading up to the 4th Saturday of the
month is considered a youth week. During this week, volunteers can be as young
as 8 years old. Youth under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult 21
years of age or older.

Other days and times may be available depending on the size of your group. Many
companies and organizations find volunteering at NIFB an excellent team-building
experience.
