Northern Illinois Food Bank is pleased to announce the Northeast Illinois Council of
Boy Scouts is conducting the annual "Scouting For Food" drive throughout Lake
County.
On Saturday, March 3, 2007, the Scouts distributed empty bags and
instructions on how to support the "Scouting for Food" drive to local residents
at their homes. The following Saturday, March 10, 2007, the Scouts returned
to the homes to collect the filled bags of dry or canned foods - 45,171 pounds
were gathereded this year! This food was taken to NIFB for sorting, sanitizing, packaging
and distribution to partner agencies.
Sunset Food Stores once again partnered in this effort by providing bags for
the Scouts to deliver and also used these bags in stores to help encourage
shoppers to participate. Barrels for food donations were at the following
Sunset Food Stores through March 10, 2007.

NIFB also had trucks on-site at the Sunset Food Stores in Highland
Park, Lake Forest and Libertyville and at the Kmart, 400 Rollins Road, Round
Lake. Donations are always
accepted at the Lake County Branch of Northern Illinois Food Bank, Willow
Business Park, 473 Keller Drive, Park City.
