Faces of Hunger
|
Rosa's Story Rosa shares “I’m a single parent who works two jobs, but still can’t make ends meet. The physical work I do each day doesn’t bother me. I’m happy to work. It’s the mental anguish I face at the end of each month, when 3 meals dwindle down to 1 meal a day. How do I explain that to my children?” |

Helen's Story “When the heating bills got so high I just tried not to use much gas, and sat in the dark to save money. I got a bad cold and had to go to the doctor. I had to spend my food money on medicine. Thank goodness for the food pantry. I used to be proud, but now I have to survive on a fixed income and I’m too old to get a job. My choices aren’t about vacations or retirement funds, but about daily existence.” |
