Northern Illinois Food Bank's executive director was the national chair of America's Second Harvest's (Now known as Feeding America) Hunger Awareness Day 2007 committee and past president of the Illinois Food Bank Association, the member organization for eight food banks serving Illinois.

NIFB partners with the Illinois Department of Human Services to distribute food for the Emergency Food Program and works with the Illinois State Board of Education for the Summer Food Service Program and other youth programs.
