At Dominick’s, giving their best doesn’t just simply mean providing superior service and quality products for their customers. It also means building longstanding partnerships in the communities they serve. Dominick’s has been an outstanding partner with Northern Illinois Food Bank in the fight against hunger by donating food and funds, making in-kind donations, and serving on NIFB's Board of Directors.  In recognition of its generous support, Northern Illinois Food Bank is proud to honor Dominick’s as Donor of the Year.

Dominick’s has been the Benefactor Sponsor of Northern Illinois Food Bank’s Donor Appreciation Gala for three consecutive years. Dominick’s continued support of this event demonstrates to all of us how important it is to stay involved if we are going to win the battle against hunger. Dominick’s special monetary support helped Northern Illinois Food Bank distribute 20 million pounds of food in 2005.

Dominick’s commitment to help end hunger has been demonstrated by its willingness to donate over a half million pounds of food to help feed hungry people. In addition, they donated a refrigerated trailer that enables NIFB to pick up more product donations and to use it to start a daily food shuttle to one of Northern Illinois Food Bank’s two branches. Dominick’s understands that making food more accessible to the food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters will help feed more hungry neighbors. The trailer has become a mainstay in NIFB's goal to distribute donated food closer to the people who need it most.

Northern Illinois Food Bank thanks Dominick's employees who generously give their time in volunteering at the food bank and their support of the Food Rescue and Recovery programs that allow NIFB to recover thousands of pounds of food at their retail stores. Dominick’s has also been a great partner and supporter of Hunger Helpers Weekend that raises both funds and awareness during National Hunger Awareness week each June.

The many faceted types of giving from Dominick’s comes from a strong corporate commitment and employee enthusiasm in the local stores. On behalf of the hungry people who have been helped over the years, it is with great honor that Northern Illinois Food Bank salutes Dominick’s as Donor of the Year.
