In
communities where ConAgra Foods has
a presence, the company endeavors to
impact quality of life positively,
through a range of activities and
initiatives with a major focus on
childhood hunger. Their commitment
to America’s Second Harvest – The
Nation’s Food Bank Network is vast –
be it monetary, food, or volunteer
support!
Northern Illinois Food Bank and
ConAgra Foods’ strong partnership
has generated over 855,000 pounds of
donated poultry, vegetables, dairy,
lunchmeat, cheese, fruit snacks,
pizza, entrees, beverages, and baked
goods for hungry people in northern
Illinois. With their many plants and
distribution sites, you can always
count on nutritious product
donations from ConAgra Foods.
In 2003, Northern Illinois Food Bank
received a 53-foot refrigerated
trailer from a ConAgra Foods Feeding
Children Better Rapid Food
Distribution grant to help supply
more food to NIFB’s Lake County
Branch.
ConAgra Foods is passionate about
combating childhood hunger. In fact,
the ConAgra Foods Feeding Children
Better program is the nation’s
largest corporate initiative
dedicated solely to attacking child
hunger in the United States. A
grant from the ConAgra Foods Feeding
Children Better Foundation funded
NIFB's first Kids Cafe supper
program that provides hot meals to
40 children four evenings a week.
Located in
Fairgrounds Valley, a public
housing project in Rockford, the
Camaraderie Arts Kids Cafe serves
children kindergarten through
twelfth grade. The program’s impact
is significant. Several children
have remarked, "Before the supper
program, the site’s after school
snack program would serve as
dinner."
ConAgra Foods employees have also
contributed time and effort through
annual food drives, volunteerism,
and special event participation.
ConAgra Foods is not only one of
North America’s favorite food
companies, it is a major partner in
the fight against hunger – feeding
children in numerous communities.
Northern Illinois Food Bank is proud
to induct ConAgra Foods into its
Donor Hall of Fame.
