Throughout the years, the Sara Lee Foundation has helped the Food Bank deliver more food to hungry people. The Sara Lee Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Sara Lee Corporation, which is dedicated to playing a meaningful role in community life and is committed to building strong and vibrant communities.

The Sara Lee Foundation is the inaugural sponsor of Northern Illinois Food Bank's Expanded Food Delivery Program. This innovative delivery system is already providing more food to hungry neighbors and is the model for future growth. Due to Sara Lee's support, all agency partners are offered at least one free delivery of food each month. With this additional service, food distribution to the agencies in the program increased by 24%. The success of the initial phase of this program is setting the standard for distributing more food to hungry people.

The Sara Lee Foundation is also an important partner in Northern Illinois Food Bank's Holiday Meal Box program where boxes containing all the fixings for a delicious holiday meal are packed and distributed. Sara Lee underwrote the cost of the packing boxes and helped set the festive mood at the kickoff by providing T-shirts to all the hardworking volunteers. This year over 16,000 holiday meals were distributed to families in need.

The Sara Lee Foundation has been a Food Bank partner for the past seven years, supporting food delivery, the Food Rescue Program, and the Summer Youth Nutrition Program. The Foundation's generous support of the Food Bank has helped put more food on the tables of many of our hungry neighbors.
