NIFB Launches Capital Campaign For New Facility!
Northern Illinois Food Bank recently launched a capital campaign to raise funds for a new distribution facility to meet the rising need of hungry people in our communities. The new Community Nutrition and Distribution Center will allow the Food Bank to triple its distribution in the years to come and feed more hungry people. To realize this vision, the Food Bank needs everyone in our communities to support it. We are running out of space, but not out of hungry people.

Out of the Blue Helps Hungry People! While singer and songwriter, Julie Sparks, was working at a bank in the western suburbs, she heard stories from a growing number of customers who had lost their jobs and were spending their life savings to stay afloat. The economic crisis seemed to be hitting everyone hard. She realized she could use her writing and vocal talents to help. She penned a song that would become her anthem; Out of the Blue. Sparks gathered a diverse group of people to produce it, develop a Web site, create a CD and make it available for download on iTunes in order to raise money for NIFB. "This song is a message of hope," says Sparks.
